Contributions to the contrastive analysis of discourse markers por lo visto and en efecto

Abstract

This work represents an attempt to establish a different point of view for the delimitation and study of the discourse markers por lo visto and en efecto, employing as starting-point the analysis of metaoperational grammatical characteristics. We will focus our work on the application of three fundamental criteria (the axes of information transmission, the enunciator and his attitudes, and reference to the interlocutor), serving as an enunciative analysis of statements to prove, from this perspective, the explicative potentiality of this grammatical focus on the study of the differences between por lo visto and en efecto in the Spanish language.
