Abstract
The problem of linguistic competence and pedagogic grammar in a reading comprehension course will be considered from a course design viewpoint: first; should grammar be included in that type of syllabus; second; if the answer is affirmative; what should be the linguistic content of that course; and; finally; how should we introduce it. Possible solutions are offered based on my experience in designing and teaching a reading course in Russian for Spanish-speaking students.
