Abstract
The aim of this paper is to show clearly and in detail the specific difficulties that students with Chinese languages as their mother tongue face when learning Spanish. These difficulties are manifest at different levels: phonetics; morphology; syntax; lexis and culture; as in all of these areas similarities between their mother tongue and the target language are hardly noticeable; which makes acquiring the new language a challenging task which has to be faced with the most suitable tools. The difficulties we present have been tested over the six years the author worked as a lecturer in Chinese universities; so they represent a realistic contribution to the problem of learning the Spanish language by students from Chinese languages as a mother tongue.
