Abstract
This work presents an analysis of some English and European Portuguese non-finite clauses. The analysis is based upon the idea that case assignment is mediated by a functional element present in the C-domain of the clause. This analysis accounts for the syntactic properties of this kind of clauses; in particular for their binding conditions; the possibility of long and short wh-movement; A-movement of the embedded subject; and clause extraposition to subject position of the matrix clause.
