Relaciones entre expresiones verbales y no verbales en la organización del discurso
Abstract
This paper examines the relationship between verbal and non-verbal expressions in interaction. In particular; I have been interested in describing the ways in which gestures are integrated to discourse. In some cases the gestures used by the speaker seem to be related to particular referents. At other times; they seem to be related to more abstract underlying concepts and propositions. I have been particulary interested in different strategies used by the speaker to guide the hearer to an interpretation of discourse organization. The data are taken from television interviews and talk shows from which a small sample of interventions from ten speakers was selected.
