La exposición oral de literatura científica: un proyecto para la comunicación académica en la Universidad de Buenos Aires

Guiomar E. Ciapuscio

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to offer a preliminary characterization of the text type oral presentation of scientific literature. This text type is a common communicative practice at universities to acquire and evaluate knowledge. It falls within the class known as academic discourse; a field rarely researched in Spanish. The paper is part of a research project that is taking place at the University of Buenos Aires. Its main objective is to design a pedagogical proposal to improve university students' competence in different text types of academic communication. The empirical basis of this project results from pedagogical experience in this context. The paper analyzes a number of theoretical aspects related to academic discourse and to the problems of describing text types within a typology. On this basis we proceed to investigate the corpus from two complementary perspectives: a) the opinions and
evaluations given by the speakers; b) a linguistic analysis. Within the linguistic analysis there are two thematic aspects that are analyzed in depth due to their crucial role in the production and formulation of the text type: the informational structure and the enunciative perspective.
