El modelo de procesamiento del lenguaje y su aplicación a la enseñanza de segundas lenguas

Abstract

The input processing model (VanPatten 1996) provides a cognitive approach to the development of second language grammar. According to this model; an important part of acquisition consists in making form-function connections. These connections may then become part of linguistic knowledge. Application of the model to teaching involves practice in interpreting form-function connections; at the same time as meaning is focused on; making evident the way in which a linguistic form expresses a function. In this paper the model is briefly described and examples of a pedagogical application are given for different languages.
