La pidginización en estudiantes de francés: el empleo de las estrategias de simplificación

Alina Signoret Dorcasberro

Abstract

Some beginning students of French do not make progress towards correcting the omission features that appear naturally in the initial stages of acquisition. Some of these features remain in their interlanguage even though they are in the same classroom environment as other students who do progress toward the standard norm of French regarding those linguistic elements. I am interested in analyzing the reasons for such differences. My hypothesis is that the students' attitudes towards the French culture are related to their achievement; this study focusses on this variable. Lack of development of simplification features can be observed at different linguistic levels; however; this study focusses specifically on the development of present tense morphology. The purpose of the study is to observe the relationship between the attitude factor and the progression of these linguistic features. This article describes the research objectives; limitations and scope.
