La noticia: globalización e interculturalidad. Un estudio de caso: “Alerta en la Casa Blanca”

Danielle Zaslavsky Rabinovici

Abstract

The paper analyzes three newspaper articles; written on the same day in English; French and Spanish at the France Presse Agency offices in Washington. The incident in question was the accidental violation of the restricted airspace over the White House by a Cessna airplane on May 11; 2005. The article was published in Mexican newspapers on May 12 in the same year. A discourse analysis of the three articles and their comparison are used to show how the incident is constructed differently from the title and the first paragraph of each text. The discourse and translational focus used confirm the position of the recipient audience for the production of the news item; as well as the argumentative dimension essential to their wording in the respective languages.

Keywords
