Un corpus discursivo para entender el presidencialismo en México

Eva Salgado Andrade

Abstract

This article is a reflection on the theoretical-methodological framework proposed for a research project designed to analyze and interpret annual presidential addresses delivered by eight presidents between 1917 and 1946; which played a decisive role in shaping a hegemonic system in Mexico. We pay particular attention to the criteria for the construction; classification; processing and interpretation of the corpus; as well as presenting some of the guidelines applied to the syntactic analysis. Throughout these pages we show how discourse analysis not only allowed us to find answers to the questions posed at the beginning of the research project; but also brought to light some surprising data which underlined the validity and fruitfulness of this interdisciplinary methodology for deepening our knowledge of history.
