La percepción de las propiedades semánticas y la adquisición de la morfología verbal en el español como L2

Margaret Lubbers Quesada

Abstract

The division between status and dynamic events is a Basic notion in the identification of verbal situations and among dynamic events; the importance whether an event is completed or not in underscored. Furthermore; there is evidence that the acquisition of verbal morphology coincides with the saliency of these conceptual distinctions. The present work examines how these distinct properties of verbal semantic aspect determine the development of preterit and imperfect among different groups of learners of Spanish as a second language. The analysis reveals that in the first stages; learners only attend to the state/dynamic distinction; in the intermediate stage they incorporate the notion of telicity and it isn’t until the more advanced stage that they are sensitive to the notion of punctuality. It is concluded that the acquisition of verbal morphology is a complex process where learners become increasingly more sensitive to the entire semantic configuration of events.
