Abstract

A pedagogical experience is described; based on the design and implementation of two multidimensional modules created using the novels 1986 and Of Mice and Men; as a strategy to include critical intercultural contents within university programs of English as a foreign language. Both interdisciplinary modules are made up of simplified literary readers; authentic expository texts; audio recordings; selections from the original novels; and film adaptations of the two novels. It is our belief that simplified readers from an ideal scaffolding for strengthening a wide range of proficiencies in the learning of English as the cultural component becomes paramount.
