Abstract

Courtesy is a form of behavior that, from its linguistic dimension, can be expressed through various resources. Owing to the multiplicity of factors that regulate this behavior, the study of linguistic courtesy has generated several different analytic proposals. In Korean y the system of honorific speech is a highly complicated one. The speaker must recognize and adjust the relative position of all the participants of the statement and enunciation. The Korean honorific system is profoundly related to the creation of the statements and has the sociolinguistic character that shows fundamentally the consciousness of respect given to the addresses or the referent by the speaker. In Korean, the use of honorific form is based in discerning not only the relative position of addressee, but also the positions of nominal referents. The use of the different formal resources depends on the relative status that have among themselves the participants of the enunciation, the one that exists among the participants of the statement and the relation among these with respect to the speaker and the addressee. Today the use of honorific forms has changed remarkably in comparison with the old times. In this work, we are focused on researching the change of the honorific forms for the family members, used specifically by junior high and high school students.
