Aprendizaje autodirigido y metacognición

Noëlle Groult Bois

Abstract

In this article, we first describe the main lines of autonomous learning as well as its political, social and pedagogical background as far as foreign language teaching is concerned. Then we explain what is meant by metacognition and how important the concept is in this context. Afterward, we present a small research done on that topic in the self-access center ofthe Foreign Language Center of National Autonomous University of Mexico, its results and implications for the work of counsellors and learners. This informations were used to write a master thesis called “Metacognition processes in selfaccess learning: suggestions to develop and follow them up", defended in february 1999.
