Different strokes: Variations on a theme

What makes for effective teaching and learning? Are the optimum strategies common across the different levels of education i.e. primary, secondary and tertiary? Several years of teaching experience of two senior practitioners will, using a reflective methodology, inform on the’teaching and learning situation in the Malaysian context. One of the most importantfactors that make for successful teaching is the importance of building confidence and self esteem vis a vis ability to speak the language effectively. This paper will elaborate on some of these strategies used successfully for building confidence in the primary, secondary and tertiary levels in Malaysia.
