Abstract
In this paper 481 terms pertaining to the field of telecommunications; in particular; “communications: radio transmission ” are studied. The term formation processes used to create terms in Mexican Spanish are analysed and compared with those of Spanish from Spain. Simple terms; compounds and syntagmatic constructions are identified. Since this field of knowledge is relatively new and its main inventions and technical innovations have been produced mainly in English-speaking countries; we look into the way in which this situation has influenced the term formation processes in Mexican Spanish; by means of translation; adaptation and direct loan translation. Lastly; a comparative analysis of syntactic patterns used in this terminology in Mexico and Spain is made.
