Julio César Valerdi Zárate holds a BA on Modern Languages from the Autonomous University of Puebla, and MA and PhD in Linguistics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is a full-time professor at UNAM’s National School of Languages, Linguistics and Translation, where he teaches courses of the BA on Applied Linguistics, the English Language Department, and the Languages-Cultures Teachers Training Course. His fields of interest include language teaching and learning, academic literacy, and discourse studies. He currently runs UNAM’s Center for Writing and Academic Skills, which offers academic literacy and teachers training services for students and scholars from UNAM and other universities from Mexico.
