Variación sintáctica en español como expresión pragmática de foco

Abstract

This paper intends to demonstrate that the relative liberty and flexibility of constituent order in Peninsular Spanish is motivated in large part by pragmatic and discursive considerations. To do this; a theoretical linguistic model has been chosen which addresses questions of pragmatic and constituent order; with the purpose of applying it to spontaneous spoken Spanish language. The objective of carrying out a corpus-based empirical investigation is to work with authentic spoken language; rather than using isolated and invented examples of little utility. To the investigator; a study of this kind; largely based on context; avoids preconceived notions concerning the phenomena to be studied.
