Forma inversa y alineamiento

Francisco Barriga Puente

Abstract

This paper analyses the typological model of inversion proposed by Talmy Givón in 1994. Diachronical connections among identified types establish a grammaticalization hipótesis of inversion. The last stage of this historical pathway represents the possibility of recycling the process as well as a starting point of ergativity development. Nevertheless; as it is shown in this paper; inversion coexists with nominativeaccusative; active-stative; and absolutive-ergative systems; which makes safer to think that inverse form and alignment are independent features.
