Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present the main guidelines of the methodological approach followed in the analysis of academic and instructional priorities associated with the design and implementation of the Center of Self-Directed Studies of the UAM Iztapalapa. General background information about our institution’s program of strengthening of foreign language education; the objectives of the study; a detailed description of the different research stages (with particular emphasis in the survey design process); as well as the complete version of such instrument are presented. It is considered that; regardless of particular institutional differences; the model here proposed can be used as a general approach to the analysis of academic and instructional priorities within the context of foreign language education at college level.
