Problemas de transcripción del ruso al castellano. Análisis y propuesta

María Sánchez Puig

Abstract

The problems involved in transcribing Russian into Spanish are not new and go beyond mere transliteration of the Capellis alphabet to the Latin. In order to transmit Russian culture to Spanish-speakers we must not only transcribe from Russian to Spanish but also respect norms and patterns of the Spanish language. After a brief analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of different international transcription systems such as ISO; ASA/BSA; AC and the system proposed by J. Calonge; the author proposes a new model of transcription from Russian to Spanish. This model adapts itself to the phonetic and graphic system of Spanish and makes Russian texts more ccessible to the average Spanish speaking reader with no previous knowledge of phonetics or of the Russian language.
